News Helicopter Crashes in Los Angeles, Killing 3 People
A NewsChopper4 news helicopter operated for NBC4 Los Angeles crashed in the Chatsworth area of Los Angeles on Tuesday evening, September 15. The helicopter went down in an area between two buildings at around 6:59 p.m. local time, killing three people and leaving one person hospitalized.
The aircraft involved was reported to be an Airbus Helicopters H125 registered as N358TV. The helicopter had been covering a collision between an SUV and a bus, which, according to initial reports, had left two people dead and six others injured. During NBC4’s live broadcast, the helicopter feed suddenly cut out, and anchor Colleen Williams announced that contact with the crew had been lost.
The cause of the crash remains unknown. The investigation will be conducted by the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
