Boeing has confirmed that the first deliveries of its long-delayed 777X program will begin in 2027, marking a delay of approximately seven years from the original 2020 delivery target.
Launched in 2013, the 777X program promised fuel efficiency with GE9X engines and folding wing tips. However, certification processes, supply chain issues, and the increased scrutiny following the 737 MAX crisis have led to multiple delays.
Boeing stated that the 777X program has incurred over $15 billion in additional costs, and the delays have created both operational and financial pressure on the company and the airlines waiting for the aircraft.
