Two Rescued After Aircraft Makes Emergency Landing at Sea off Rize
Two people on board an Aerospool WT-9 Dynamic, registered F-JIGU, were rescued alive by Turkish Coast Guard teams after the aircraft made an emergency landing at sea off Rize-Artvin Airport due to an engine failure.
According to a statement from Türkiye’s Ministry of Interior, the privately operated aircraft departed Batumi Airport today for a flight to Ordu-Giresun Airport. The Main Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (AAKKM) reported that the aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at sea off Rize-Artvin Airport following an engine failure.
Following the alert, Coast Guard ship TCSG-307, two Coast Guard boats, KB-101 and KB-29, and a Coast Guard diving team were dispatched to the area.
Coast Guard teams located the aircraft on the surface of the sea and rescued both occupants. The two people were reported to be alive and conscious.
