Ryanair’s Profit Falls by 15%

Ryanair, one of Europe’s largest low-cost airlines, has announced its financial results for the first half of fiscal year 2027. The airline’s net profit after tax fell by 15% year-on-year to €2.15 billion during the April–September 2026 period. Meanwhile, total revenue increased by 3% to €10.08 billion.

Passenger traffic rose by 6% to 125.8 million, while average airfares declined by 4%. Higher fuel costs and lower ticket prices were among the main factors behind the decline in profitability. The cost of the 20% of Ryanair’s jet fuel requirements that were not hedged approximately doubled to $130 per barrel. As a result, the airline’s operating expenses increased by 10%.

Despite ongoing cost pressures, Ryanair continues to expand its route network. The airline announced 126 new routes for the summer 2027 season and plans to open a new operational base in Rimini, Italy. Ryanair is targeting approximately 214 million passengers for the full fiscal year 2027.
