PIA Begins Boeing 787 Dreamliner Operations
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has welcomed its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner leased from Norse Atlantic Airways under an ACMI agreement. The aircraft arrived at Islamabad International Airport after operating flight #PK786 from London Heathrow.
The agreement, signed between PIA and Norse Atlantic Airways on October 9, covers two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. Under the ACMI arrangement, Norse Atlantic will provide the aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance. The aircraft are expected to increase PIA’s capacity on long-haul routes, particularly between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
The aircraft’s arrival in Islamabad marks the first Boeing 787 to join PIA’s operations, as well as the first Boeing 787-9 to be operated by a Pakistan-based airline.
A second Dreamliner is also scheduled to join PIA’s operations under the agreement.
