Air Canada Pilot Arrested After Allegedly Flying 17 Years Without Required License

Former Air Canada pilot Geoffrey Wall has been taken into custody after it was revealed that he allegedly operated more than 900 flights over approximately 17 years without holding the required Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL-A).

According to investigators, Wall held a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL-A) but did not possess the Airline Transport Pilot Licence required for airline captain duties. Authorities allege that he continued flying under these circumstances from 2009 until his retirement in 2025.

Officials stated that during a 27-year aviation career, Wall spent roughly 17 years operating without the required licence, conducting more than 900 domestic and international flights. He is also alleged to have earned more than CAD 2.9 million in salary during that period.

Nick Milinovich, Deputy Chief of the Peel Regional Police, noted that Air Canada pilots undergo regular flight proficiency checks and argued that the case does not appear to represent a direct flight safety violation.
