China Agrees to Purchase 200 Boeing Jets

U.S. President Donald Trump announced that China has agreed to order 200 Boeing commercial aircraft, marking the country’s first major purchase of American-made jets in nearly a decade. Speaking in an interview with Fox News following meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, Trump stated that while Boeing originally sought an order for 150 aircraft, the final agreement was increased to 200 units.

Although specific details regarding the aircraft types and delivery schedules were not immediately disclosed, the announcement had a direct impact on the market. Boeing shares fell more than 4% as the total order figure came in lower than some market expectations which had suggested a much larger deal. This agreement follows a period of heightened trade tensions during which Airbus secured a majority market share in China, having outpaced Boeing in deliveries since 2018.

U.S. officials indicated that the deal represents a significant development in bilateral commercial relations. Boeing has yet to release a formal statement regarding the technical specifications of the order.
