Turkish Airlines Prepares New Widebody Tender: 777X and A350-1000 Under Consideration

Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee Prof. Dr. Murat Şeker has outlined preparations for a new widebody aircraft acquisition during an interactive press meeting held by the airline.

Şeker said Turkish Airlines is preparing a new request for proposals covering the Boeing 777X and Airbus A350-1000 as part of its additional widebody fleet requirements. The options submitted by the manufacturers will be evaluated from both technical and commercial perspectives.

Commenting on delays to the Boeing 777X programme, Şeker said the airline remains cautious about aircraft types that have not yet entered commercial service. He added that the first 10 Boeing 777X aircraft already built, but whose future remains uncertain, could also be examined in detail by Turkish Airlines’ technical teams if they emerge as a potential opportunity.
