Japanese carrier ANA (All Nippon Airways) has unveiled a specially painted Boeing 787-8, named Pokémon Jet Red, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon video game franchise.
The aircraft, registered JA819A, features Pikachu alongside all Fire-type starter Pokémon from different generations of the series. One of its most distinctive details is the lower fuselage anti-collision beacon, designed to resemble a Poké Ball.
During the unveiling event, officials from ANA and The Pokémon Company announced that three Pokémon-themed aircraft will eventually operate at the same time. A previously announced second aircraft, a Boeing 787-9 registered JA923A, will feature a Grass-type Pokémon livery and operate on international routes.
