Resignation in the US Administration Over the Iran War

Joe Kent, the Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, has resigned from his post. Amid ongoing US military operations against Iran, a significant departure has occurred within the upper echelons of the American administration. In announcing his resignation, Kent criticized the current administration’s Iran strategy in strong terms.

Emphasis on Ethical Concerns and External Pressure

In his statement regarding the resignation, Joe Kent noted that he reached this decision following an extensive evaluation process. Emphasizing that ethical concerns were the primary reason behind his move, Kent stated that he could not, in good conscience, support the ongoing war in Iran.

In his assessment of the operation’s background, Kent argued that Iran did not pose a direct or immediate threat to the United States. Asserting that the war began due to the influence of external factors rather than national interests, Kent claimed that military actions were the result of pressure from Israel and influential lobbies in Washington.

Criticism of Deviation from the “America First” Principle

Addressing President Trump in his resignation letter, Kent argued that the previous policy of avoiding “endless wars” had been abandoned. Stating that conflicts in the Middle East are traps that deplete America’s prosperity and human resources, Kent suggested that elements within the department of safety bureaucracy and the media misled the administration through disinformation.

Past Experiences and Strategic Warnings

Sharing his views as an 11-time combat veteran and a Gold Star spouse who lost his wife in a military operation, Kent emphasized his opposition to sacrificing future generations in a war that yields no benefit to the American people. Concluding his letter with a warning that the current trajectory could lead to chaos, Kent stated that the administration must change its course.
