Willie Walsh Takes Over as IndiGo CEO

IndiGo has announced that Willie Walsh has officially assumed his role as Chief Executive Officer, following the confirmation of his appointment in March 2026.

Walsh, one of the aviation industry’s most experienced executives, previously served as CEO of Aer Lingus, British Airways and International Airlines Group, before becoming Director General of the International Air Transport Association.

In his new role, Walsh will lead IndiGo’s next phase of growth, with a focus on accelerating international expansion, improving operational performance, strengthening the airline’s network and commercial strategy, and enhancing the customer experience.

IndiGo Managing Director Rahul Bhatia said Walsh’s global aviation experience would play an important role as the airline expands its presence in international markets.

Walsh said he was joining IndiGo at a significant time, as India continues to emerge as one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets.
