Schiphol Launches Major Taxiway Renewal Project

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport has launched a comprehensive infrastructure project to upgrade sections of key taxiways used by aircraft moving between gates and runways.
The project will focus on specific sections of taxiways A and B, particularly the stretch between connections A21 and A25. Airport authorities noted that these taxiways have been in heavy use for many years, making infrastructure upgrades necessary to maintain safe and efficient ground operations.
To minimize disruption to flight operations, the works will be carried out in two phases. The first phase will focus on taxiway B and is expected to run from March until mid-April. The second phase will cover taxiway A, with work scheduled to continue until early summer.
During the construction period, the airport also plans to combine several surrounding maintenance activities. Some taxiway exits may be temporarily closed, and aircraft movements could face limited capacity during peak hours. Temporary adjustments in runway usage may also occur depending on wind conditions and traffic levels.
As part of the project, tens of thousands of square meters of asphalt pavement will be replaced, drainage systems will be upgraded, and infrastructure improvements will be implemented. New electrical cabling will also be installed, along with upgraded taxiway lighting and updated signage.
