Boeing is preparing to launch a fourth assembly line for the Boeing 737 MAX in order to increase production capacity. The new production line, called the “North Line,” will be established at the company’s facility in Everett and is expected to begin operations in mid-summer 2026.
The move is notable because it marks the first time Boeing will assemble 737 aircraft outside its traditional production site in Renton. The space in Everett became available after production of the Boeing 747 ended in 2022 and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner assembly line was relocated to South Carolina.
Boeing is currently producing around 42 units of the 737 MAX per month. The company plans to increase production to 47 aircraft per month by 2027, with a long-term target of reaching 63 aircraft per month. However, the new Everett line is not expected to immediately contribute to production levels, as hiring, training, and regulatory approvals must first be completed with the Federal Aviation Administration.
Demand for the 737 MAX remains strong. Boeing currently holds a backlog of approximately 4,887 aircraft orders for the program.
