Vehicle Crashes Terminal at Detroit Airport

A vehicle entered the terminal building at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) in Michigan, crashing through a glass entrance and advancing into the check-in area. The incident occurred on Friday evening at around 7:30 p.m.

According to officials, the vehicle struck the area housing Delta Air Lines check-in counters at the McNamara Terminal, causing material damage to the terminal. Following the incident, the driver was quickly subdued and taken into custody by port police and security personnel.

Airport authorities and emergency responders were dispatched to the scene. Initial reports indicate that no serious injuries occurred, though some passengers and airport staff were taken for precautionary medical evaluations.

An investigation into the cause of the incident and the driver’s motive is ongoing. Security measures in the terminal were temporarily heightened. Flight operations largely continued as scheduled, though brief disruptions were reported in the affected section of the terminal.

Officials stated that additional information will be shared with the public once the investigation is complete.
