EU Introduces 14-Day Refund Limit for Flight Tickets Bought Through Intermediaries

The European Parliament has adopted rules that strengthen passenger rights across all modes of transport and regulate refunds for airline tickets purchased through intermediaries.
When a passenger becomes entitled to a refund following a flight cancellation, refunds through travel agencies or online platforms that paid the airline for the ticket from their own accounts must be completed within 14 days. The airline will pay the intermediary within seven days, and the intermediary will then pay the passenger within the following seven days. Refund conditions must be disclosed at the time of booking.
If the refund is not confirmed within 14 days, the airline will contact the passenger, obtain the necessary information and documents, and pay them directly within seven days. Intermediary fees will also be included in the refund. However, independent micro-enterprises may withhold a certain portion of the service fee, provided they state this clearly at the start of the booking.
