↪️ American Airlines announced that it expects to end 2026 with a loss due to rising fuel costs. The company revised its full-year outlook, which it had projected in July to range from a loss of $0.65 per share to a profit of $0.65 per share, to an adjusted loss of $1.00 to $1.60 per share. The airline’s third-quarter revenue increased by 19.3% compared with the same period last year, reaching $16.3 billion, while its net loss rose from $114 million to $269 million.
↪️ In the third quarter, fuel expenses increased by 67.5%, rising from $2.7 billion to $4.6 billion. American Airlines, which faced an average fuel cost of $3.85 per gallon, expects this figure to rise to $4.70 in the fourth quarter and fuel expenses to increase by approximately $2.8 billion compared with the same period last year. The company stated that high fuel prices would cause its route network expansion in 2027 to slow compared with 2026.
