Ryanair May Delay Boeing Deliveries Amid Tariff Concerns

Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair has warned that it may delay upcoming Boeing aircraft deliveries if U.S. tariffs under President Trump’s renewed trade policy increase costs. CEO Michael O’Leary told the Financial Times that deliveries originally set for August 2025 could be postponed to March or April 2026, adding: “Hopefully common sense will prevail.”

Ryanair is scheduled to receive 25 Boeing jets, but ongoing uncertainty could alter those plans. According to The Sun, Barclays analysts see Chinese aircraft manufacturers as a realistic alternative. Rising costs may push Ryanair to consider switching suppliers.

In a recent Skift interview, O’Leary remarked, “The Chinese are basically building a bloody A320 copy. If it’s 10–20% cheaper than Airbus, we’ll order it.” These comments underscore how trade tensions could reshape procurement strategies across the aviation industry.
