Korean Air has dismissed two pilots following a physical altercation at their hotel in Brisbane, which reportedly began as a disagreement over former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol’s martial law decision. The incident occurred on December 19 after a flight from Incheon to Brisbane.
The confrontation escalated into a fight, resulting in the captain being hospitalized and the first officer sustaining minor injuries. While the incident did not affect the flight itself, a replacement crew was assigned for the return leg.
The airline stated that the matter was evaluated in line with its principles of “safety and professionalism” and announced that internal training would be strengthened to prevent similar incidents. Both pilots have appealed the decision.
