Türkiye Sends Two Firefighting Aircraft to Spain
Türkiye has dispatched two firefighting aircraft to Spain to support efforts to combat the wildfires that continue to spread across southern Europe.
According to a statement from the Turkish Embassy in Madrid, the aircraft were deployed in response to Spain’s request for assistance through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism.
The statement said that Türkiye is supporting its friend and ally Spain in its firefighting efforts, expressing solidarity with those affected by the wildfires and wishing success to the crews working on the front lines.
Wildfires have been burning for days across the Madrid, Ávila and Valencia regions, destroying around 45,000 hectares of land. Spain has extended its national state of emergency, while thousands of personnel and numerous aircraft remain engaged in firefighting operations.
Meanwhile, wildfires continue to impact other parts of Europe. In southwestern France, tens of thousands of people have been evacuated as one of the country’s largest wildfires in recent years continues to burn.
