Saudia Confirms Employee Killed in Attack at Riyadh Airport

Saudi Arabia’s flag carrier, Saudia, has confirmed that one of its employees was killed in an attack at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Thursday, October 8. The deceased employee was reportedly Captain Hamoud Ali Al-Kalthami.

In a statement issued on October 9, the airline also confirmed that one of its aircraft, which was parked at the airport during the attack, sustained damage. No passengers were on board at the time. Although social media reports claimed that the aircraft had been completely destroyed, Saudia did not confirm its destruction in its statement.

Following the incident, Saudia activated its emergency response procedures and coordinated with the relevant authorities. The airline announced that flight operations at Riyadh Airport had returned to normal as of 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 8.
