Miami–Tokyo Nonstop Flights Under Discussion as Talks Gain Momentum

Miami International Airport in the United States is stepping up discussions with Japan Airlines to establish nonstop flights between Miami and Tokyo, a route it has been pursuing for nearly 15 years. According to Miami Today, Japan Airlines’ ongoing fleet expansion with new long-haul aircraft has increased the possibility of launching the route, which had previously been held back by aircraft availability constraints.

Miami Airport officials plan to present the route’s commercial potential to Japan Airlines during the Routes World Conference in Frankfurt on October 21–23 and at US–Japan meetings in Nashville on October 25–27. Authorities are also considering offering American Airlines a minimum revenue guarantee for a limited period to encourage the launch of Miami–Tokyo services. However, no airline has announced a confirmed launch date for the route.
