The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has released global air cargo data for June 2026. According to the figures, demand increased by 8.5% compared with the same month last year, while capacity rose by 4.4%.
IATA Director General Willie Walsh said cargo demand growth continued to outpace capacity expansion, with North America recording the strongest regional increase. He noted that all regions posted year-on-year demand growth, supported by shipments of high-value technology products and urgent goods. However, conflicts in the Middle East and U.S. tariff policies remain key risks for the sector.
By region, North America recorded the strongest growth at 13.1%, followed by Asia-Pacific at 7.9%, Europe at 6.9%, the Middle East at 5.6%, Africa at 4.7%, and Latin America and the Caribbean at 3.5%.
Among major trade lanes, Asia–North America recorded the highest growth at 14.7%, while Europe–Asia and intra-Asia traffic also posted strong gains. In contrast, Europe–Middle East and Middle East–Asia routes contracted amid the impact of ongoing conflicts in the region.
