Cathay Pacific to Raise Fuel Surcharge by 105% Due to Developments in Iran

Cathay Pacific announced that, effective March 18, it will increase fuel surcharges by 105%. The airline cited rising costs linked to developments in Iran and global energy price increases as the reason for the hike. The company stated that the step was unavoidable due to volatility in global oil prices.

The new surcharges will be applied as follows:

Short-haul flights: HK$290 (previously HK$142)

Medium-haul flights: HK$541 (previously HK$264)

Long-haul flights: HK$1,164 (previously HK$569)

Cathay Pacific emphasized that the new fuel surcharges are necessary to maintain sustainable flight operations and called for customer understanding.
