Proposal for a New Terminal Named After Trump at Dulles Airport

During the redesign process of Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), a striking proposal has come onto the agenda. The world-renowned architecture firm Zaha Hadid Architects submitted a new main terminal project to the airport carrying the name “Donald J. Trump Terminal.”

A total of 21 proposals were submitted to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s call, and in some of them the “Make Dulles Great Again” approach stood out. Zaha Hadid Architects’ proposal includes constructing a large-scale new building in front of the existing main terminal designed by Eero Saarinen and converting the current terminal into luxury retail areas.

The project also features a new pier layout, an automated train system, and shorter walking distances. The proposal text emphasizes the goal of adding “prestige and grandeur” to the process of entering the United States.
