Winter Storm Hits North America | Thousands of Flights Canceled, 230,000 Without Power

Due to the winter storm sweeping across the United States, more than 4,000 flights were canceled nationwide on Saturday. By Sunday, over 9,000 flights had been canceled. The storm also left more than 230,000 people without power across the region.

Weather experts reported that snow, freezing rain, frigid temperatures, and ice would continue to affect the eastern part of the country starting on Sunday and into the following week.

The National Weather Service warned that the storm, named “Winter Storm Fern,” would spread unusually widely, with the Southeast expected to experience “crippling and potentially catastrophic impacts.”
