Mahan Air Suspends Flights to Türkiye and Oman
Iran-based Mahan Air has decided to suspend its flights to Türkiye and Oman until further notice following the expansion of U.S. sanctions targeting Iran’s aviation sector. The airline’s Tehran–Istanbul and Tehran–Ankara services will be suspended from September 21.
Mahan Air’s Tehran–Muscat flights were suspended as of September 17. Under a new sanctions package announced on September 8, the United States targeted 27 active Iranian airlines as well as companies in third countries accused of providing various services to Mahan Air.
Mahan Air has been subject to U.S. sanctions since 2011. The latest measures have expanded the scope of sanctions targeting companies supporting the airline’s overseas operations. Flights to Türkiye and Oman operated by other Iranian airlines are reportedly continuing.
