Two-Day Strike by Lufthansa Cabin Crew Set to Begin Wednesday

Cabin crew at German airline Lufthansa have announced a two-day strike starting Wednesday, April 15, as part of an ongoing labor dispute between employees and management. The decision follows a separate two-day work stoppage by pilots on April 13–14.

The Independent Flight Attendants’ Organization (UFO) stated that the strike will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday and end shortly before midnight on Thursday. The action is expected to affect all Lufthansa departures from Frankfurt and Munich.

Cabin crew had already staged a one-day walkout last Friday, demanding improved working conditions. Earlier in the same week, pilots went on strike on Monday and Tuesday over a wage dispute.

The union holds company management responsible for the escalating tensions. Collective bargaining expert Harry Jaeger noted that the employer has taken a hardline stance, contradicting its claims of being open to negotiations.

The latest pilots’ strike has already led to hundreds of flight cancellations, further deepening disagreements between the parties. Lufthansa has described the pilots’ demands as “unrealistic and unfeasible.”
