IndiGo Reports $225 Million Net Loss Despite Strong Revenue Growth

Indian carrier IndiGo reported a net loss of approximately $225 million for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027, ending September 30, 2026, as rising fuel costs and currency depreciation weighed on profitability.

The airline’s operating revenue increased by 25.9% year-on-year to approximately $2.8 billion, while passenger traffic declined by 4.7% to 27.5 million. Fuel expenses surged by 67.2% to approximately $1.2 billion, and the passenger load factor fell to 80.3%.

As of September 30, IndiGo operated a fleet of 442 aircraft, including four Airbus A321XLRs and five Boeing 787s under damp lease arrangements. The airline served 97 domestic and 36 international destinations, operating up to 2,020 daily flights during the quarter.
