U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained Lorenzo Thompson, a Jamaican national and Southwest Airlines flight attendant, for allegedly overstaying his visa.
Thompson reportedly entered the United States in 2021, and his visa expired in October of the same year. According to authorities, he remained in the country after his visa expired. He was detained on July 14 while working at Nashville International Airport and is expected to remain in ICE custody while his immigration case is processed.
Meanwhile, the union representing Thompson expressed its support for him and his family. A friend of Thompson reportedly claimed that he had a valid work permit and that he had an ongoing asylum application.
