Delta Air Lines Reaches Milestone as Premium Cabin Revenue Surpasses Economy for the First Time
Delta Air Lines has released its financial results for the second quarter of 2026, reporting record quarterly revenue of US$17.67 billion, up 14% from the same period last year. The airline posted US$1.4 billion in pre-tax profit and earnings of US$1.56 per share.
For the first time in the airline’s history, revenue from Delta One, First Class, and Premium Economy exceeded revenue generated from the main cabin. Premium cabin revenue reached US$6.92 billion, compared with US$6.85 billion from economy class ticket sales.
Delta CEO Ed Bastian said strong demand was driven by higher-income travelers and increased travel activity related to the FIFA World Cup. He added that despite lower fuel prices, disciplined industry capacity growth and robust demand are expected to keep airfares strong for the remainder of the year.
The airline also reaffirmed its full-year 2026 financial outlook, targeting approximately 20% profit growth, and announced that it will increase its quarterly dividend by 15% starting this autumn.
