Supply Chain Issues Delay Boeing 787 Deliveries

Boeing has announced that delivery delays in the 787 Dreamliner program are now being driven by supply chain constraints rather than production line issues.

CEO Kelly Ortberg stated that some completed aircraft cannot be delivered due to engine shortages and delays in the certification of next-generation premium cabin seats.

The impact is particularly visible among airlines undergoing cabin renewal programs. For example, deliveries planned for Lufthansa have reportedly been delayed due to certification challenges related to the Allegris cabin concept.

Engine supply pressure from both General Electric and Rolls-Royce has also contributed to the delays, directly affecting delivery timelines.

Despite these challenges, production continues. Boeing delivered a total of 15 Dreamliner aircraft in the first quarter of 2026. However, the growing number of completed but undelivered aircraft highlights that the bottleneck has shifted from manufacturing to suppliers.
