IndiGo in Talks for Up to 150 Embraer Aircraft

IndiGo, India’s largest airline, is in discussions with Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer to purchase 100 regional passenger jets as part of its fleet expansion strategy. The potential deal also includes options for an additional 50 aircraft and could become one of the largest orders in Embraer’s history.

According to a Reuters report published on November 4, the negotiations are still at an early stage. The aircraft model and final order quantity have yet to be determined, while deliveries are expected to begin no earlier than 2030 if an agreement is reached. The potential order for 100 aircraft is estimated to be worth approximately $5.1 billion.

The Embraer aircraft under consideration could be used to expand IndiGo’s regional domestic network in India and replace some aircraft in its existing ATR fleet with higher-capacity regional jets.
