United Airlines Flight Diverted Over Bomb Threat | Passengers Evacuated Using Slide
United Airlines flight #UA2092, operated by Boeing 737 MAX8 (registration N37325) from Chicago to New York, was diverted to Pittsburgh International Airport due to a bomb threat.
The aircraft, at an altitude of 37,000 feet, declared an emergency over Lake Michigan. The cockpit crew reported hearing a ‘beeping’ sound during the flight, triggering an alarm.
“We have an issue here; we are receiving a continuous beep from a suspicious device. We are going to treat this as a potential bomb,” the pilot stated, explaining that they decided to change the flight’s route in response to the situation.
United Airlines confirmed the diversion was due to safety concerns but did not directly confirm a bomb threat. The 159 passengers and 6 crew members on board were evacuated using the slide for safety reasons.
The aircraft landed safely in Pittsburgh, and there were no injuries. Allegheny County Police responded to the incident, and the FBI, along with bomb disposal teams, examined the aircraft. After investigation, it was confirmed that no bomb was found on the plane.
