China Eastern Orders 101 Airbus Aircraft Worth $15.8 Billion

China Eastern Airlines, one of China’s leading carriers, has announced that it signed a deal with Airbus for 101 A320neo family aircraft worth approximately $15.8 billion. The airline stated that the decision was driven by its confidence in the future of China’s civil aviation industry.
According to the Shanghai-based carrier, the order includes A320neo, A321neo, and A321XLR models. Deliveries are scheduled between 2028 and 2032, although the timeline may be adjusted based on mutual agreement between the parties.
The agreement once again highlights China’s importance as a key market for Airbus and signals that Chinese companies may continue placing additional orders with the European manufacturer. In fact, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated during his visit to China in February that the country had agreed to purchase up to 120 additional Airbus aircraft, though no timeline was specified.
