Passenger Jet Collides with Fire Truck

Breaking | New York LGA | Passenger Jet Collides with Fire Truck

According to information obtained from internal sources, a United aircraft reportedly rejected takeoff twice prior to the incident. Cabin crew are said to have complained about an odor—possibly mechanical in origin—affecting the rear of the cabin.

It is claimed that the aircraft declared an emergency to secure priority access to a gate, prompting emergency vehicles to be dispatched onto the airfield.

Allegedly, under heavy workload conditions, air traffic control cleared a fire truck to cross the runway despite the Air Canada Express (JZA) aircraft being on short final. The vehicle reportedly failed to clear the runway in time, and did not respond to instructions to stop, resulting in a collision with the approaching aircraft.

It is also alleged that the controller was handling both ground and tower positions simultaneously, while high traffic volume and adverse weather conditions may have contributed to the chain of events.

Note: These claims have not yet been officially confirmed.
