IndiGo announced that it will introduce a fuel surcharge on both domestic and international flights starting March 14, 2026, due to rising fuel costs.
According to the airline, the surcharge will apply to all new bookings made from March 14 onward. The company stated that jet fuel prices have risen significantly following developments in the Middle East, noting that fuel prices in the region have increased by more than 85%, based on data from the International Air Transport Association.
Under the new policy, the following fuel surcharges will be applied:
- India domestic and Indian subcontinent flights: 425 rupees
- Middle East flights: 900 rupees
- Southeast Asia, China, Africa, and West Asia flights: 1,800 rupees
- Europe flights: 2,300 rupees
IndiGo stated that the measure is intended to limit the impact of rising costs while maintaining operational sustainability, adding that the airline will continue to monitor developments and adjust the policy if necessary.
With a fleet of more than 400 aircraft, the airline operates around 2,200 flights daily, serving over 95 domestic and more than 40 international destinations.
