American Airlines to Restore Commercial Air Link Between Venezuela and the United States
U.S.-based airline American Airlines has announced plans to resume direct commercial flights between Venezuela and the United States. With this move, the company becomes the first U.S. carrier aiming to reestablish the U.S.–Venezuela connection that has been suspended since 2019.
According to American Airlines, the flights will be launched on a daily basis once the necessary government approvals are obtained and required safety and operational assessments are completed. The company stated that the service is intended to provide an important travel link for business, visiting, tourism, and humanitarian purposes.
American Airlines began commercial operations in Venezuela in 1987 and suspended its services in 2019. Since then, there have been no direct flights between the U.S. and Venezuela. With more than 30 years of experience in the region, the airline aims for the resumed service to help reunite families and strengthen commercial ties between the two countries.
American Airlines noted that further details about the service will be shared with the public in the coming months once the required permits and safety procedures are finalized.
