An unusual incident occurred in the cockpit of a Ryanair Boeing 737 operating the Kraków (KRK) – Milan (MXP) flight on December 8. Shortly after takeoff, as flight #FR3505 was climbing and reached approximately 8,000 feet, a cockpit sun visor became detached and inadvertently struck the fuel cut-off switch, causing one of the aircraft’s engines to shut down.
The crew halted the climb at 10,000 feet and issued a PAN–PAN emergency call, maintaining that altitude while successfully restarting the engine.
The flight then continued as planned, and the aircraft landed safely in Milan. No injuries were reported.
Following the incident, the aircraft was grounded in Milan for approximately 50 hours and underwent technical inspections.
