Katy Perry Kisses the Ground After 4 Minutes in Space

American pop star Katy Perry completed an approximately 11-minute suborbital flight aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket yesterday.
During the flight, the crew crossed the Kármán line and experienced about four minutes of weightlessness. Upon return, Perry and fellow passenger King knelt down and kissed the ground immediately after exiting the capsule — a moment that quickly went viral on social media. Perry described the experience as “the highest point of my life” and even sang Louis Armstrong’s What a Wonderful World while in space.
However, the spaceflight also sparked some criticism. While some viewed Perry’s gesture of kissing the ground as overly dramatic, others raised concerns about the environmental impact and high cost of space tourism.
This flight marked Blue Origin’s 11th crewed mission.
