United CEO Flies on Rival American Airlines Aircraft

United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby was spotted in the first class cabin of a rival American Airlines flight.

➡️ Kirby is reported to have used the lifetime travel benefits he received when leaving his former role at American Airlines. Scott Kirby served in American Airlines management between 2013 and 2016.

The timing of the sighting also drew attention. In recent weeks, Kirby had floated the idea of a potential merger with American Airlines, but the process was later dropped after the proposal failed to gain traction.

As a result, the image of a CEO who had openly criticized a rival carrier and raised the prospect of a merger, only to be seen shortly afterward in that same airline’s first class cabin, quickly became a topic of discussion.
