United Airlines Beats Second-Quarter Expectations as Fuel Costs Reach Record Levels

United Airlines reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of $17.67 billion and adjusted earnings per share of $1.99, exceeding Wall Street expectations.
The airline also raised its full-year adjusted earnings per share guidance to between $9 and $11, while warning that higher jet fuel prices are expected to add nearly $6 billion to its 2026 operating costs.
Second-quarter fuel expenses surged 84 percent year over year to $2.3 billion, while net profit fell more than 17 percent to $805 million. United also said it could reassess its capacity plans if elevated fuel costs persist.
