Saab Unveils Sweden’s First GlobalEye Surveillance Aircraft

Swedish aerospace and defense company Saab has unveiled the first GlobalEye airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft developed for the Swedish Air Force. The aircraft is scheduled to undergo testing and verification phases prior to its maiden flight and subsequent delivery.

Sweden has ordered a total of three GlobalEye aircraft through the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV). Contracts for the first two aircraft were signed in 2022, followed by an order for the third unit in 2024.

Integrating active and passive sensor suites, the GlobalEye platform is capable of detecting and tracking targets across air, sea, and land domains. The system delivers real-time data to air, naval, and ground forces, enhancing situational awareness, early threat detection, and operational decision-making capabilities.

Saab Chief Executive Officer Micael Johansson described the rollout as an important milestone as the Swedish program progresses toward final delivery.
