Public Campaign Emerges to Acquire Spirit Airlines

A notable grassroots initiative has been launched to acquire U.S.-based low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines.

The campaign, initiated by an individual investor, aims to purchase and restructure the airline. In less than two days, the effort reportedly gathered approximately $132 million in pledges, with more than 157,000 participants contributing. The average contribution per person is estimated to be around $840.

The ultimate goal of the initiative is to form an investment consortium capable of acquiring Spirit Airlines’ assets, valued at approximately $1.75 billion.
