Copa Airlines Announces Major Expansion with Agreement for Up to 60 Boeing 737 MAX Aircraft

Copa Airlines, the flag carrier of Panama and a Star Alliance member, has reached a significant agreement with Boeing and GE Aerospace for the acquisition of up to 60 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The investment is valued at approximately $13.5 billion at list prices.

This new order, combined with the 40 aircraft already pending delivery, positions the airline to surpass a fleet size of 200 aircraft by 2034.

Strategic Growth and Connectivity

Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines, emphasized that this agreement is a vital step in strengthening the carrier’s operations and the connectivity provided through the “Hub of the Americas” in Panama.

“Incorporating new aircraft will be key to continuing to expand our operations and network of destinations, thus supporting the economic development of Panama and the region, generating new jobs and growth in the tourism sector,” Heilbron stated.

Operational Focus

Copa Airlines currently serves nearly 90 destinations across more than 30 countries. The airline’s modern fleet is primarily composed of Boeing 737-800 and 737 MAX 9 aircraft. With this new order, the carrier aims to maintain its commitment to a reliable and efficient operation while responding to increasing market demands.
