Boeing has announced the expansion of its Landing Gear Exchange Program with Ethiopian Airlines, extending the service to include the carrier’s growing Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner fleet. The agreement is designed to improve maintenance efficiency while minimizing aircraft downtime through faster access to replacement landing gear.
Under the expanded program, Ethiopian Airlines will benefit from guaranteed access to certified landing gear shipsets for its 787-9 aircraft whenever scheduled overhauls or unexpected maintenance are required. By utilizing Boeing’s exchange pool, the airline can replace landing gear more quickly instead of waiting for overhauled components to return, helping reduce operational disruptions and maintenance costs.
The latest agreement builds on the long-standing partnership between Boeing and Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest Boeing 787 operator. It also supports the airline’s continued fleet expansion, following recent orders for additional 787-9 Dreamliners as Ethiopian strengthens its long-haul network and modernizes its operations.
