Carol Fair, American Airlines’ most senior active flight attendant, is retiring at the age of 83 after a remarkable 63.5-year career in aviation. Fair is scheduled to operate her final flight on October 26, 2026, aboard flight #AA733 from London Heathrow to Charlotte.
Fair began her aviation career with Piedmont Airlines in 1963 and continued working for US Airways and later American Airlines following successive airline mergers. On June 15, 1987, she was also part of the cabin crew on Piedmont Airlines’ inaugural flight from Charlotte to London.
Nearly 39 years after serving on the first flight from Charlotte to London, Fair will conclude her career on the return leg of the same route. Her final flight from London to Charlotte will mark the end of more than six decades of service in the aviation industry.
