International Flights Diverted to Botswana Due to Dense Fog

Dense fog at O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg on Monday morning, July 13, caused significant disruption to air traffic. Several international flights bound for Johannesburg were diverted to alternate airports, primarily Sir Seretse Khama International Airport in Gaborone, Botswana.
Airports Company South Africa said reduced visibility led to delays for both arriving and departing flights. Air traffic control temporarily operated using a single runway, while some aircraft were diverted to nearby Lanseria International Airport. According to aviation weather data, visibility dropped to as little as 150 metres in some areas due to the fog.
Weather conditions gradually improved by midday as the fog cleared. Full operations resumed at O.R. Tambo International Airport, although authorities warned that the earlier diversions and delays could continue to affect connecting flights throughout the day.
