THY Targets 850-Aircraft Fleet and Global Leadership

Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee, Prof. Dr. Murat Şeker, shared the carrier’s long-term growth ambitions during an interview with CNN International.

Şeker noted that the airline’s fleet has grown from approximately 350 aircraft before the pandemic to around 550 aircraft today, with plans to expand to nearly 850 aircraft by 2033.

Addressing rising fuel costs, Şeker said the increase in jet fuel prices has created significant pressure across the aviation industry, but emphasized that Turkish Airlines has taken the necessary measures and remains committed to its growth strategy.

He also highlighted the airline’s goal of strengthening its position among the world’s leading carriers in both passenger and air cargo transportation, citing Istanbul’s strategic location and Turkish Airlines’ extensive global network as key drivers of future growth.
