Explosion Reported During Static Fire Test of Blue Origin’s New Glenn Rocket

Blue Origin has confirmed that an anomaly occurred during a static fire test of its New Glenn rocket at Launch Complex 36, located at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

Videos shared on social media appeared to show an explosion during the test. In a statement, the company said all personnel are safe and that an investigation into the incident is underway.

“We experienced an anomaly during today’s hotfire test. All personnel have been accounted for and are safe. We will share updates as we learn more,” Blue Origin said.

The incident could potentially impact the company’s New Glenn mission schedule, which was expected to continue in early June. However, the exact cause of the explosion has not yet been disclosed.

Blue Origin stated that technical teams have begun an investigation to determine the root cause of the event.

New Glenn is Blue Origin’s next-generation heavy-lift launch vehicle, designed to carry satellites and other payloads to low Earth orbit as part of the company’s expanding space transportation program.
