British Airways has published a job posting for a “Taxi Crew” position at Chicago O’Hare International Airport. According to the airline’s careers page, the role is aimed at pilots who will handle the ground movement of Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft within the airport. The posting states that the position is permanent part-time, with an annual salary range of $90,000 to $100,000.
The reason behind the role lies in British Airways’ operational setup in Chicago. According to the airline’s official statement, it moved its departure operations in Chicago to Terminal 3 in 2024, while arrival operations continue to be handled at Terminal 5. In other words, aircraft arriving at one terminal and departing from another need to be repositioned via the apron and taxiways.
In the job posting, British Airways requires applicants to have recent experience as a captain or first officer on the Boeing 777 or 787, as well as a high level of familiarity with Chicago O’Hare procedures. The airline also states that the role is intended to support on-time performance by ensuring the safe ground taxi of aircraft between terminals.
